payperpost: my PPP experience

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

I first read about Pay Per Post through a friend on Livejournal.

Audra wanted to know if anyone on her f-list was involved and if they’d made any money at it, was it legitimate, etc. I figured, why not? It’s not that much time out of my day, we could all use a little cash, let’s go for it. And since then I haven’t done it all that often. I’m not sure why, other than I’m not all that good about updating the blog in general, and then it seems like double the work even though it isn’t. Plus I’d rather read than write (that’s how I am offline, too, ironically enough), but we’re in a situation now that calls for a more income than we’re getting so I really need to step this thing up. So far I’ve done 4 posts, but one of the opportunities (as pay per post calls them) disappeared before it could get verified; e-mails to customer support dead-ended with “we’ll look into it,” but whatever. So in total I’ve received $15 into my paypal account, with another $11 coming if yesterday’s opportunity is fulfilled, and another $10 for this one here. I don’t usually like talking about money in specific amounts – seems a little tacky – but Pay Per Post wants us to talk about how much we’ve made and what we’re going to do with it. Really, I’d like to say that it’s going to get me some cool yarn from etsy (because you can pay for etsy stuff using paypal and I love buying yarn and really, that’s what I’d do with “extra” money), but realistically it’s not “extra” money, it’s necessary money & it’s therefore going to pay bills. Credit card first, combining it with my income from the 451 Press blog (are you clicking the ads over there? Please do) to pay off my kick-ass camera, then student loans, then whatever else needs to be paid off. We’re living broke here, so if it takes a few blog ads to help make ends meet, so be it.
