in dog years, he’d be prepubescent by now
Sunday, April 29th, 200717 months ago today, Boogermonkey made his way into the world. I tell him every day (many times a day) that I love him very much, and right now I’m going to take this time to brag about all the cool stuff he knows how to do and say. I’ve been reading Einstein’s Momma and wondering just how gifted Booger’s going to be. He’d have to reach a plateau pretty soon in order to be on the same level as his peers by three, and I don’t see that happening. To get an idea why, I’ve made a list of all the words he can say. Italics are Spanish words. In some cases, he’s made up words, and in those cases I’ve provided translations.
In addition to all these words, he knows headphones go in your ears & which jack to plug them into in the computer; the cow says moo, the cat says meow, the dog says ruff ruff ruff, the sheep says baa, & the duck says quack; how to count to 3 (on his own, though not always on cue. Sometimes I’ll count & he’ll keep going, he’s gone up to 6 this way); which button to push on the machines to do laundry; how to make a smoothie; how to feed the cats; how to go down a slide by himself; the letter A; the concept of “3″; how to use a fork & spoon (though he prefers his fingers); how to kick a ball; how to throw a ball; how to turn lights on & off; hen dances, spins, and tries to jump; he matches pitch with an electric tuner & can repeat simple doo-doo-doo songs (take a song, sing it with doo instead of words, he repeats the “words” back with the same pitch – or lack thereof in my case); the itsy bitsy spider is his favorite song & he can tell you what comes next (DOWN DOWN DOWN! OUT! UP! ISSY-BISSY AGAIN!)
There are over 100 of them, so I’ll put them behind a break. For those of you reading the LJ feed, sorry but this is a long list & your f-list will probably be wonky.
