Tuggin’ on the heart strings
I was reading Crystal’s blog today, and followed her link over to Credit Card Hell. CCH is written by a woman whose son, Evan, has a rare benign brain tumor that needs to be removed because it’s causing seizures and will, if left untreated, leave him mentally disabled, or worse. The type of tumor he has is found in one of every one MILLION children, and there is ONE center in the U.S. that specializes in it. As is usually the case with insurance companies, theirs is giving them shit about whether or not the surgery/hospital stay/follow-up will be covered, and by whom. Not to mention they live in CA & the treatment facility is in AZ. So, my missive to you: do what you can to help this family. If you’re going to buy something from Amazon, go to the blog and click the link, so they get a percentage of the sale. If you’re a crafty person, go to Evan’s mom’s craft store and buy something. Want a quilt? For every $5 donated, you get an entry in a drawing to win one of 2 GORGEOUS hand-made quilts, as shown on Frank’s blog. I have some money sitting in my paypal account, and I’m going to give some of it directly to the family, but I’m thinking I’m also going to do a drawing of some kind. I don’t really have the time to create anything myself, but I might get a few things from Etsy and use them as prizes.
